 1) How much notice is necessary to book shipment of my vehicle?

Obviously, the longer the notice, the better. However, normally a notice of between 10 and 14 days is sufficient. Delays however, can be experienced do to situations beyond our control.  You can be assured that we will always do all we can to to make your shipment as smooth as possible.

 2) What is a reasonable estimate of time from date of request to date of delivery?

It  normally takes between 2 and 28 days to make the pickup, after the shipment has been booked. In some remote locations, due to inclimate weather, and other unforeseen reasons, it could take longer. In addition, from around the 2nd week in April to the around the 2nd week in September, delays can occur due to the inordinately busy moving season. During these periods, there can be delays of up to 45 days. We do all we can to expedite your pick up and delivery, but we don't want to make promises we can't keep. To some areas the delays can be long.

After your vehicle is picked up, delivery can range anywhere from another 5 to 14 days, and sometimes longer, depending on numerous factors. For example, to ship a vehicle from Minnesota to Florida sometimes takes longer than to ship a vehicle from California to Florida. We do promise to expedite the shipment to the best of our abilities, but as so many factors are involved, we cannot quote an actual delivery date at the time of booking.

 3) What kind of truck is my vehicle shipped on?

Unless you have upgraded to an enclosed carrier, your vehicle will be shipped on an open vehicle transport. You have likely seen these transporting new and used cars on the hiway many times. Because these trucks are approximately 4 times as long as a regular vehicle, they cannot deliver to an area with low bridges, narrow dead end neighborhoods or areas with low overhead obstacles of any kind, including trees. If this is the case, we will have to arrange for delivery in an area that is accessible to the truck. Also, there are many residential areas that prohibit these trucks. Often there are areas close to your residence such as shopping center parking lots that are acceptable for delivery or pick up.

 4) Who is the trucking company that will actually transport my vehicle?

As stated on our home page, we have many associates, including one of our sister companies who might ultimately be contracted for the transportation of your vehicle. You can rest assured that all of the companies that we use are reliable, licensed and bonded. In order for them to accept a vehicle from us, we require a copy of their insurance and bond on file. We do all we can to assure that your delivery will be smooth and trouble free.

 5) What items can I leave in the car?

A maximum of 100 pounds of personal belongings can be put in the trunk. If you do this, you  must be sure all is bundled and tied down. Nothing can be left in the trunk loose. It is highly recommended that you put nothing breakable in the trunk. Also, keep in mind that the personal items will not be available until your vehicle is delivered. If your delivery is delayed for some reason beyond our control, you cannot access your personal items until the vehicle is delivered.

Now for the reality of leaving ANYTHING in the trunk. NO PERSONAL ITEMS WILL BE INSURED. NOTHING THAT CAN BE CONSTRUED AS HOUSEHOLD GOODS CAN BE LEFT IN THE VEHICLE. Neither us, nor the trucking firm will accept any responsibility for any personal items left in your vehicle. This is not negotiable. We want to be very clear on this point. Any personal items left in the vehicle will be totally at risk...YOUR RISK ONLY!

The auto being shipped and the transport truck are subject to inspection by the DOT and the Police at every state line. The truck driver can be fined up to $10,000 if found to be carrying household goods. Your  car can be impounded. Should this occur because of personal items you left in the vehicle..ALL FINES AND EXPENSES WILL BE PASSED ONTO THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE BEING SHIPPED.  Under NO circumstances may the vehicle contain firearms, hazardous materials, illegal substances, or contraband.

 6) I live on a narrow dead end street. Can I leave my vehicle somewhere else to be picked up?

Yes. In some cases it may be necessary to leave your vehicle off at a terminal of one of our associate trucking companies, if there is one in your area. There may be an additional charge for this service. Also, as mentioned earlier, there are often large commercial lots that you can have your vehicle dropped off to or picked up from.

 7) Is my vehicle insured?

Yes. Your vehicle(s) is/are insured against numerous perils. As mentioned earlier, all of the companies that we contract with are insured and bonded. Your vehicle is insured against negligence on the side of the driver and trucking company, and against damage caused by equipment failure on the truck that is transporting your vehicle. By law, in order to operate, the trucking company must carry a minimum of $1,000,000 of public liability coverage. If any insured damage occurs to your vehicle(s), EZ AutoShippers will provide all pertinent insurance and license information regarding the trucking company transporting your vehicle.. If your vehicle does sustain any damage, you must notify EZ AutoShippers as soon as possible after the damage is noticed, in accordance with the terms and conditions which must be read and agreed to before your order is accepted. When the vehicle is delivered, you must look the vehicle over for damage at the time you receive it before you sign the bill of lading, just as needs to be done by the person at the pick up location. The damage must be notated on the bill of lading at that time. EZ AutoShippers will forward your claim on your behalf to the Carrier's insurance company, as should you. It is very important to understand that the claim you could have will be with the Carrier and NOT EZ AutoShippers. EZ AutoShippers will assist you in making your claim to the Carrier and the Carrier's insurance company. The Carrier will not accept any claims that are not made according to the terms and conditions of your agreement.

 8) How does door to door shipping work?

The truck driver will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the address that you request provided he is able to within the constraints of his vehicle, based upon the road you live on, and the local and state laws that are in effect in your area. Most larger cities have ordinances against a truck the size of a transport accessing many local neighborhood roads. If that is the situation with either your pickup or delivery, your will be contacted by the driver, and arrangements will be made in concert with you, to pickup or deliver your vehicle at the nearest possible point.

 9) Are there any specials things I need to do in order to prepare my vehicle(s) for shipment?

The first thing to do is to disconnect any anti-theft devices. If the alarm goes off while your vehicle is being transported, additional expenses can be incurred. Be sure that the vehicle has an adequate amount of anti-freeze. Be sure all loose objects such as the battery, exhaust pipes, any accessories etc. are secured. Be sure there is no more than a quarter tank of gas in the vehicle. If the vehicle has an antenna, be sure to lower it. If the vehicle is a convertible, be sure to repair any tears or open seams as the damage will be enhanced with the airflow during transportation. Be sure that the vehicle is clean. When it is picked up, the driver will inspect it for prior damage, and it must be clean in order to do this. The final thing to do is crack one window VERY SLIGHTLY. If this is not done, it is possible that a window could blow out during transportation due to pressure and temperature changes.

 10) OK, Now I need to know how all this works. Can you explain how everything works from the time I fill out the FREE QUOTE FORM, to the time my vehicle is delivered?

It really is a simple procedure. After you fill out and submit the FREE QUOTE FORM, you will be contacted by one of our staff. You will be advised of all your options with regard to the transport of your vehicle(s). You will be given a total price for the shipment at this time. After payment is made, we will  pick up your vehicle as close to the time you indicate as possible. This will be completed by a call from the truck driver to you in order to schedule the actual pick up. At the time of pick up, the driver will, in concert with you, complete a condition report for the vehicle. This will be recorded on the bill of lading, and signed by both you and the driver. The truck driver will call you prior to the delivery to set a date and time for the delivery. The inspection report that you signed off on at the time of pick up will be accessed again at the time of delivery. At this time you and the truck driver will re-inspect the vehicle. If there is any damage, this is the time to make a note of it. If the damage is not recorded and signed off by you and the driver at this time, EZAutoShippers, the trucking company and the insurance company will not be responsible for it. It will be your sole responsibility. It is very important that you take the time to carefully inspect your vehicle at the time of pick up and the time of delivery. The likelihood of damage is slim, but obviously accidents can happen.
